VISUALLY IMPAIRED GOLFER MAKES US CAIRNS CUP TEAM

Visually impaired golfer Greg Hooper from Georgia will again represent USA in the Cairns Cup. Having previously played at the Shire London in 2022. Greg is without centre vision, with his sight limited to the periphery.

Alan his son who is caddie and guide stands behind his father for every shot pointing him in the right direction. Hopefully landing safely on the fairway or green. They will head off in July to Cherry Creek Golf Club as part of team USA that hope to retain the trophy.

According to Greg his selection to the Cairns Cup US team is very exciting. Being part of a team which represents the USA in one of the highest honours in his time as an adaptive golfer. To do it with his son is extra special.

Greg also stated the US team players all with different disabilities are some of the best people he knows. Giving their time unselfishly to help others with disabilities and help people realize that they too can play this game.

Greg said “I am so honoured to be a part of such an event and the message it brings. I thank the captains for the opportunity to be a part of this great team.”
