Sophia Howard becomes latest member of Kim Moore’s USA team

“I am honoured and excited to be asked to represent the USA in the 2024’s Cairns Cup.  I want to thank Kim Moore, Team USA’s Captain, for giving me this incredible opportunity to play for team USA.” said Sophia

Born without her right hand, Sophia had to adapt to everything she does, but for her, this was normal.  Since the time she was adopted at 3, her parents have always encouraged her and told her she can do anything, Sophia has never let my disability hold her back.

Throughout her childhood Sophia has played in multiple competitive sports, but her love and sole sport now is golf, 3 years ago, she was introduced to competitive adaptive golf, and she was instantly hooked.

Sophia having played in numerous adaptive golf tournaments throughout the United States, by the end of 2022 she was No1 in the women’s US Adaptive Golf ranking in the assisted arm division. She played in the Inaugural US Adaptive Open in 2022 and was a repeat player in 2023.

Sophia commented “I have many adaptive mentors to thank for my continued growth and I want to give back by bringing more junior and women golfers into the adaptive golf community.”

She went on to say “I will represent Team USA proudly and look forward to playing alongside my teammates next summer.  Amazing things are going to happen during the 2024 Cairn’s Cup!”
