PLAYER SELECTION CRITERIA

HOW YOU QUALIFY TO PLAY IN THE CAIRNS CUP?

Each team is set a criterion for selection, that makes the event truly inclusive and gives everyone regardless of golfing ability and disability the chance of being selected.
The Cairns Cup are about growing a family that will support each other, we will be looking for players that are willing to help and support others not just on the golf course.

Players chosen will be asked to commit to help in fundraising, disability awareness and promotion of The Cairns Cup before and after the event becoming part of the growing family…

NUMBER OF PLAYERS 

Each Team will consist of 16 Players.
*Reserves can be allocated due to illness or injury up to the start Day 1 of the Cairns Cup.

HANDICAP GROUPS

At the point of selection players will be placed in one of the following catorgories.
6 players with a handicap index of 0 – 10.4  
(Only 4 can be under 5.4)
6 players with a handicap index of 10.5 – 18.4
2 Players with a handicap index of 18.5– 24.4
2 Players with a handicap index of 24.5– 36.4

RESTRICTIONS

No team can select more than 4 players with similar disability i.e., leg amputees covers above and below knee, right or left leg . However double leg amputee is classed as a separate disability.
Maximum number of consecutive events a player can play is 2.

DISABILITIES

Teams WILL select at least 6 different disabilities.

REPRESENTATION

Each Team should select players from at least 6 different countries in Europe and 6 differant states in the USA.

CONDITIONS

Teams MUST select in the team at least 1 Sight Impaired Player, 1 Seated Player in Approved single-rider carts and be made up of both Men & WomenGentlemen.
