EVAN MATHIAS JOINS USA CAIRNS CUP TEAM

EVAN MATHIAS - INDIANA

I’m beyond excited to be a part of The Cairns Cup! I want to thank Kim Moore for giving me this opportunity to play for the U.S. Cairns Cup team next year!

I was born without legs, so having a disability is just my life. I learned to walk on prosthetics when I was only a year old and nothing has stopped me since. I started golfing before I could even remember. Coming from a golfing family meant I really didn’t have a choice. Golf came naturally and I have been pushing forward ever since.

I started playing in disabled golf tournaments when I was just 10 years old. The first tournament I ever played in was in Circleville, Ohio, ran by John Novak. This tournament launched my disabled golf career, and I am so thankful to this incredible community I was introduced to! I have continued to play in events like the U.S. Adaptive open for the last 2 years and won my division this year.

I can’t wait to see what the disabled golf community will do in the future. This community has helped me to become the person I am today and I want to show what all of us can do!

I am excited to continue my match play career in the Cairns Cup next year at Cherry Creek.
