AMY BOCKERSTETTE PICKED FOR TEAM USA AT THE CAIRNS CUP 2024!

Viral internet sensation Amy Bockerstette has been selected to represent her country at Disability Golf’s Premier MatchPlay Event.

The Cairns Cup 2024 is taking place at Cherry Creek in Detroit, Michigan.

Amy's Journey to Cairns Cup

Amy shot to fame playing the iconic 16th hole with Gary Woodland during a practice round at the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

She hit the par 3 tee shot 117 yards into a greenside bunker, splashed her sand shot to within 8 feet of the pin, and made her par putt, confidently stating, “I GOT THIS!” in front of a roaring crowd.

The video capturing that moment has over 60 million views on social media and is the most watched video in PGA TOUR history.

Amy is the first golfer with Down syndrome to play in The Cairns Cup.

She is also the first person with Down syndrome to both receive an athletic scholarship to attend college and compete in a national collegiate championship.

June 17-25, she will represent the USA at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin.

At her 21st birthday party in October 2019, Amy and her family launched the I GOT THIS Foundation.

The sole mission is to promote inclusion through golf instruction and playing opportunities for people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities.

The Cairns Cup is a unique USA v Europe event taking place for the first time on American soil in 2024 and will be held at Cherry Creek Golf Club in Shelby Township, Michigan located just 30 miles North from the city of Detroit.

Kim Moore USA Captain invites Amy to join Team USA

Kim Moore of USA, on choosing Amy said, “Amy has demonstrated that not only does she have the determination to be a good golfer and great competitor, but she will also add both fight and finesse to our team.

In addition, Amy has done more than anyone over the last few years to break down some of the stereotypes surrounding disability and she thoroughly deserves her place on my team!”

On being told the news, Amy said, “I am so excited to represent Team USA at The Cairns Cup! Inclusion means belonging to a community.

What better way to be included in the golfing community than to play alongside fellow golfers, while representing my country. It’s a dream come true!”
